What is Organic Sugar?

It is an industrialized agricultural product made under procedures called Organic Standards. These procedures make possible the elaboration of health-promoting foods and the protection of the environment by means of noncontaminating cultivation practices. These also reduce energy use and the accumulation of inorganic substances -particularly synthetic ones.

The only input of organic sugar is organic sugarcane; its cultivation occurs without the application of agrochemicals and without the production of genetically modified components.

Organic crops are nourished with compost to replace nutrients drawn from the soil for food production. Among the available traditional agricultural methods, the systems of terracing and natural barriers are used to avoid soil erosion. This organic product promotes good human nourishment and health, maintains the ecological balance at production sites and avoids the accumulation of toxic and chemical substances that can harm health.

Organic foods have a growing demand as large-scale cultivation used in industrial agriculture comes under fire from environmental groups due to its insustainability and the rampant exposure of crops to toxic pesticides. Read more
